My Philosophy of Bodywork
Massage therapy and Energy Healing are healing arts and complementary therapies. I see “bodywork” as a creative dialogue in which you as the client and I as a therapist work together. I hear your verbal description of what is bothering you, and I “listen” to what my hands feel as they sink to the 'end feel' in your muscles or tissue that is achy, painful, or out of balance. I ask quiet questions throughout a session to make sure the massage is meeting your needs. I encourage your questions, participation and integration of massage into regular, preventive self-care. I often make referrals to both mainstream and other 'alternative or complementary' practitioners whose gifts and skillsets deepen your healing work. I am delighted to participate in helping you care for you!
Training and Background
I am certified from the 1000-hour (one-year full-time) program at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy (BCMT) and graduated in December 2001. In June 2002 I received an Associates of Occupational Studies (AOS) degree in massage therapy from BCMT, and have continued my education since then with classes in orthopedic massage techniques, Healing Touch, among others. I am nationally certified (NCBTMB) #312176-00. I am a member of and insured through the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). I am a Colorado Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) #2819. I also have a BA in Communications from Goshen College, IN.
My massage therapy practice integrates physical massage therapy and energy healing work to provide orthopedic support for healing fascia-soft tissue dysfunctions. It began in Boulder, Colorado, in January 2002. I moved to southern Colorado in May 2003, and have worked in private practice and in contract with elders in two long-term care homes, and with chair massage clients at workplaces, including accounting firms, nursing homes, hospitals and county agencies, and with hundreds of individuals in private practice. ...I continue to accept new clients, and invite you to be one of them!
I continued a curiosity with energy healing through training with Healing Touch Program’s rigorous energy study program. completing a 5 year apprenticeship in 2014. I continued study and ‘practice’ with Awakening Healing Axis, an advanced energy medicine study program, with focused techniques to address energetic roots of fascia, auto-immune, trauma, and other dysfunctions or imbalances in the energetic body/ies. I am now a teaching facilitator with AHA, looking forward to sharing self-care and advanced healing techniques with AHA workshop participants around the country.
I am a Healing Touch Practitioner (HTP), having completed Level V training in September 2014. This modality, begun and taught by holistic nurses, has bridged complementary and mainstream medicine for over 20 years, facilitating better healing in all ways - notably before and after surgeries and with major medical issues; and generally helping people feel more balanced, vital and alive!
I help to facilitate workshops with Awakening Healing Axis to teach client self care and support other practitioners who wish to deepen their energetic awareness and expand their toolkits!
